CONVERGENCE

Projections Design

In aiding the choreographer to express a heavy tone of melancholy, we use footage of a person slowly peeling and later dissecting a peach in combination of Billie Holiday's "Lady Sings the Blues" to help convey the emotion. The peach is used in a double meaning as the object itself symbolizes femininity and purity but the action of it being torn to its core illustrates a removal and destruction of that. The dancers' movement in the performance becomes a slow style of Blues Dancing as they encroach the audience to the apex of the song and video as the pit of the peach is torn out.
