A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER
Projections Design
Prior to shutdowns due to COVID-19, I was slated as the Projections Designer for A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder, a romantic musical comedy following the many misadventures of one Monty Navarro after learning of his royal blood to the D'Ysquith family. It was my responsibility to work closely with the Scenic Designer as the projections content was an extension of the scenic elements.
In the style of Victorian paper theatre, it was necessary that the projections emanated a sense of old style scenery. Utilizing the renderings from the Scenic Designer, I would expand and add flair to what was needed for each scene and moment throughout the show. It was especially important how content transitioned between scenes, acting like moving backdrops and sliding flats, so that they married the transitions of the actual scenery on the slip-stage.
